Pleading for DQ's life

The lighting! The lighting was horrendous from a photography making perspective. I had to keep my camera on spot measuring and try as hard as possible to keep the AF sensor on the faces of the actors. The maximal contrast between white shirts and complexions and the pitch dark stage made it impossible to try to balance the lighting between the main character and the rest of the actors on the stage. A better lens than the 18-70mm 3.5-4.5 AF G DX Nikkor would probably make some difference but not immensely I suspect. Noise was an issue in some shots as well. I tried as much as possible to keep the camera at 800 ISO as the light on the features and eyes was enough given that the background was hopelessly dark. Posted by Picasa

Dan Puric and his ansamble

Great show indeed! An hour of pure bliss, last Friday at Bozar in Brussels. Pantomime at its best. Music, dance, quality drama. The twist on Cervantes had all it takes for a contemporary, energetic and tantalizing play. No words needed! Posted by Picasa
