Frank Gehry Hafen Triptych

Düsseldorf Hafen Area. This is one of the recent additions to the port. The three buildings designed by Gehry are supposed to represent the human dimension of the port as a memento of what it used to be and still is but in different times with a totally different merchandise. Today a media hub, Düsseldorf's Rhine Hafen was a bustling port.

The three buildings commissioned to Ghery represent in turn the ships, the white tall building, the bridges, cranes and the water reflecting the port's activity, the silver metal coated building, and finally the massive red brick building stands for the crates and containers piled up in the docks ready to be loaded on ships. Not bad as it stands a bit far from his usually spectacular buildings as in Bilbao or LA. Posted by Picasa
