This is Jeema el Fna during day time. By night it becomes a different world. Its vast expanses taken over by magicians, storytellers, drummers and dervishes - well their Moroccan equivalent - , snake charmers. By day is a dangerous place since motorcycles and mopeds are darting in all directions following unknown path that invariably bring them on collision course with unsuspecting tourists and angry local girls. Like anywhere else in Morocco the secret of almost safe passage is a steady course. Whatever comes toward you at whatever neck braking speed the best course of action is to keep it straight ahead. This way the well exercised locals will plot a course that will avoid you. Most of the times! I have seen exceptions but invariably it involved local experts misunderstanding each other. More often, the cause of mini traffic disasters were polite, shy, or simply totally frightened, tourists that were trying to avoid the inevitable.
